Cast off the dock

Two cabins, two kinds of water — quiet no-wake Lake Arbutus and the boatable Sugar Camp Chain.

You're fishing in some of the most storied water in the Midwest. Vilas County holds more than 1,300 lakes, and the nearby Eagle River–Three Lakes Chain is recognized as one of Wisconsin's premier musky fisheries.

Our two cabins sit on two very different kinds of water — one quiet and no-wake, one a boatable chain — so the right one depends on how you like to fish.

Licenses & seasons

A Wisconsin fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older, residents and non-residents alike. You can buy one online or locally through the Wisconsin DNR. Open and closed seasons vary by species and by water — especially for musky and walleye — so check the current DNR regulations before your trip. If you're after musky, please handle these fish with care and practice catch-and-release to keep the fishery strong.

Heading out by boat on the chain? Watch for the posted, strictly-enforced no-wake zones in the channels between lakes.
